Use compression to manage the range between louder and quieter passages. Use limiting when you need to constrain peaks. invideo Editor includes both Compressor and Limiter in Effects > Audio.
Set the mix balance first, then listen to its loudest moments. A limiter can control peaks, but excessive limiting can reduce impact or introduce audible distortion. It cannot restore detail that was already lost in a clipped source recording. Check the delivered file as well as the timeline mix.
