Connect your AI agent to invideo (MCP server)

Invideo MCP connects the AI agent you already use to the invideo Editor. Your agent opens a project, brings media in, edits the timeline, and exports. You watch every edit land in the editor, and you can take over at any frame.

It works with Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, VS Code, and any other client that supports remote MCP servers.

What you need

  • An invideo account. You can create one when you sign in.

  • An AI client that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP.

  • No API key. When your client connects, it asks you to sign in to invideo in your browser.

Set up in your client

Claude (claude.ai or Claude Desktop)

1. Open 'Settings' → 'Connectors'.

2. Click 'Add custom connector'.

3. Name: invideo. URL: https://mcp.invideo.io/mcp.

4. Click 'Add', then 'Connect'. Sign in to invideo in the browser window.

5. In a chat, open the tools menu and make sure invideo is on.

Team and Enterprise plans: an Owner adds the connector under 'Settings' → 'Connectors' for the organization.

ChatGPT

invideo is an official plugin in ChatGPT. You do not need to add the server URL by hand.

  1. Open https://chatgpt.com/plugins, or click the Plugins item in the ChatGPT sidebar.

  2. Search for invideo (by Invideo Inc) and click Install plugin.

  3. Sign in to invideo when ChatGPT asks.

  4. In a chat, ask for a video, or pick one of the invideo starter prompts shown on the plugin page.

Developer mode custom connectors also work, but the plugin is the supported path.

Claude Code

Run this in your terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http --scope user invideo https://mcp.invideo.io/mcp

Then:

1. Exit Claude Code and start it again.

2. Run /mcp, choose 'invideo', and choose 'Authenticate'.

3. Sign in to invideo in the browser window.

If the sign-in lapses later, run /mcp → invideo → Authenticate again.

Codex

codex mcp add invideo --url https://mcp.invideo.io/mcp

Sign in to invideo in the browser window. Start a new Codex session to load the tools.

Cursor

Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

{
"mcpServers": {
"invideo": { "url": "https://mcp.invideo.io/mcp" }
}
}

Or open 'Cursor Settings' → 'Plugins', search for 'invideo', and click 'Install'.

VS Code

code --add-mcp '{"name":"invideo","type":"http","url":"https://mcp.invideo.io/mcp"}'

Any other client

Add a remote Streamable HTTP MCP server at `https://mcp.invideo.io/mcp` using your client's usual settings. The client runs the sign-in when it connects.

If your client cannot open a browser (for example, an agent that runs in the cloud), use device sign-in. The agent gives you a link and a code. Open the link on your own device and approve it. Full steps for agents are at https://invideo.io/agents.md under "No browser".

Your first video

Once connected, try a prompt like:

  • "Open my latest invideo project and make a 30-second teaser with a title card and music."

  • "Add bold white word-by-word captions on a dark backing."

  • "Duck the music under the voiceover, remove room hum, and mix to -14 LUFS."

  • "Make a 9:16 vertical cut for Reels, then export the video and a Premiere Pro project."

Your agent can also call get_help to learn how projects, timelines, media, and exports work.

Credits and plans

  • Manual editing in the invideo Editor is free.

  • AI generation (images, video, audio, b-roll) uses the credits on your invideo plan. See https://invideo.io/pricing/.

  • Your AI client's own plan rules also apply. For example, some clients only allow custom connectors on paid plans.

Troubleshooting

  • The tools do not appear. Restart the client after adding the server. Claude Code and Codex load a new server only at startup.

  • Sign-in keeps failing. Run the sign-in step again from your client (Claude Code: /mcp → invideo → Authenticate). Make sure you approve the same invideo workspace you want the agent to work in.

  • I see mcp.invideo.io/sse in old instructions. That endpoint is retired. Use `https://mcp.invideo.io/mcp`.

  • The agent says it needs my account. Every request except ping needs your invideo account. Finish the sign-in step and try again.
